Mohsin Zaman
Alberta's great singer/songwriter has had an amazing year: he performed at the Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Calgary Folk Festivals; was appointed "Artist-in-Residence" with the Edmonton Folk Festival; and was voted Edmonton's Male Artist of the Year. He's making his first trip to Vancouver to play St. James Hall -- but we are lucky enough to get him the night before. This Wednesday night show promises to be something very special.

Mohsin, whose family hails from Pakistan and who emigrated to Canada from the UAE only nine short years ago, describes himself as, "an old hand at being a new comer." In the two years since giving-up a career in banking to pursue music, he's been widely celebrated -- I could fill the rest of this profile with just the nominations and awards he's earned -- and asked to perform at many of Canada's biggest summer music festivals. His albums, Waking Up (2015) and Fly Home (2016), have earned widespread, well-deserved critical acclaim.
